Everyone has their own taste, be it for films or books. There are people who like to read books for long hours and then there are people who can watch movie 24 x 7. Saying that books are better than movies or vice-versa is wrong. If you are a kind of person who has loved watching movies throughout your life, then chances are that you might want your kids also to enjoy watching movies. Now, what if you are fond of horror movies?
The idea of introducing horror movies to your kids itself is intimidating. You may feel worried about your kids’ reaction to it. Chances are that you may drop the idea of making your kids watch horror movies. Here is the thing. What if your kids actually end up loving horror films just like you? No, it’s not a dream. Here is how you can do it.
Things to keep in mind while making your kids watch scary films:
- Watch their age – Just because you love scary films doesn’t mean that your kids would love it to. So take it easy and they might do it probably because of their age. Don’t expect your 10 years old kid to like the movie in the first go. It happens with the age. Introduce the films to them when they are ready to take it ideally in the age of 14-15 years.
- Be aware of your kids’ fear – It’s usual. Many kids are scared of ghosts, dolls, special characters etc. Therefore, when you are making your kids watch anything scary make sure the character of the film is not something your kids are scared of. If that happens, your child might never want to watch horror movies again in their lives.
- Respect their No – If your kids don’t like the idea of watching a horror film, then you should respect that ‘No’. Don’t insist them repeatedly for the same thing. You will be just scaring them more.
- Take it slow – If your kids like the first horror movie they watch, don’t push them for another. Rather take it slow and let them go with their own pace. Never force them for any movie. Let them make their choice.
There are many horror films out there made, especially for kids. Choose the best short horror film for your little one and let them enjoy it.
